PROJECT OVERVIEW
In 2024, , wood industry BJELIN SPAČVA, applied for the "Strengthening Strategic Partnerships for Innovation in the
Process of Industrial Transition" call issued by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds. The application
was for the project titled "Strategic Partnership for the New Generation of Wood Products – WOOD(R)EVOLUTION."
The grant agreement under this call was signed on December 20, 2024.
PROJECT SUMMARY
The WOOD(R)EVOLUTION project focuses on the development of innovative products in the wood industry to
enhance competitiveness in the global market. The project will explore the development of lightweight glued wooden
boards and their application in:
1. Liteboard Doors – Interior wood-aluminum doors
2. Threespine furniture – A table and a sideboard featuring a patented click system for easy assembly
The project is implemented by the SPIN consortium, which includes BJELIN SPAČVA, three SME partners, and the
research organization (OISZ), ensuring an effective synergy of scientific and business resources.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES & EXPECTED RESULTS
– Main Objective: The development of eco-friendly, functional, and modern products with strong
international potential.
– Liteboard doors – Lightweight, durable, easy to assemble, made from a wood-aluminum combination, and
designed to fit contemporary aesthetic trends.
– Threespine furniture – Tool-free assembly using a click system, while maintaining the durability and quality
of solid wood.
Through the project, the following will be achieved:
✔ Development of two innovative products
✔ Submission of three intellectual property applications (patent, industrial design, trademark)
✔ Enhanced competitiveness of the consortium participants in domestic and international markets
✔ Environmental sustainability by reducing raw material usage and VOC emissions in production
The project is co-financed by the European Union under the Integrated Territorial Program for the financial period
2021–2027.
