Wood industry Spačva d.d. in 2020, at the public invitation of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development “Increasing the development of new products and services arising from research and development activities – phase II” applied for a project entitled: Research and development of innovative wood wall coverings, partitions and load-bearing walls for sustainable construction in the company Spačva dd

The grant agreement within the said call was signed on August 16, 2021.

PROJECT SUMMARY: The project will carry out scientific research activities for the purpose of developing innovative wood wall coverings, partition and load-bearing walls for sustainable construction, which are the results of the project. The project will contribute to the thematic priority area ENERGY AND SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT, as well as the thematic priority area FOOD AND BIOECONOMY. In addition to the applicants, the project involves partners Faculty of Forestry, University of Zagreb and the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture Osijek, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek.

OBJECTIVES AND RESULTS OF THE PROJECT: The overall goal of the project is to ensure long-term sustainable development and greater efficiency without negative impact on the environment. This project will result in three new products (innovative wood wall cladding, load-bearing and partition wall for sustainable construction), which will bring products to the macro-region market with properties that are not available today, and will represent a step forward and increase demand for range of applicants, primarily in foreign markets. Special attention will be paid to environmental friendliness in order for the finished product to have the most favorable ecological footprint, ie in order to achieve eco-innovation.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES:

1. Development of sandwiches / construction of wooden wall coverings, partition and load-bearing walls

2. Optimization of oak veneer production technology for wooden wall coverings, partition and load-bearing walls

3. Environmental Impact Assessment (LCA) of solid wood sandwich panel on the environment

4. Research of thermal and acoustic properties of different wood materials and sandwiches / constructions

5. Development of aesthetic and design solutions of interiors using veneer wall coverings with different natural occurrences with the aim of increasing the utilization of veneer logs

6. Project management

7. Promotion and visibility

The implementation of the project and all defined measures will lead to the fulfillment of the project objectives and the objectives of the Public Call.

The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund, and is implemented under the Operational Program “Competitiveness and Cohesion” 2014-2020.
